Exigence

This rhetorical element refers to the trigger or reason that prompts you to write. At the start of the course, I struggled to grasp this concept, often confusing it with the assignment’s purpose. However, I improved with each assignment. By the time I worked on the group Project Proposal, identifying the exigence and linking it to the purpose became effortless. Engaging with this element consistently, even when I didn’t fully understand it at first, helped me see its connection to my interests, experiences, and academic focus.
